Two-year-old team taking shape
1st June 2008
WITH BEN Chorley proving an able flag-bearer for David Lanigan’s team, it will soon be the turn of the Revida Place two-year-olds to keep up the good work.
David has been gradually upping the work-load with some of his juveniles and several of them have been shaping with promise on the home gallops.
The trainer is expecting to get the first of them on the track in June with a couple or so more to follow soon enough - especially when the seven-furlong maidens start to kick in.
Lanigan reported: “The difference that the last month has made with the two-year-olds has been significant. If they go on to take similar strides forward in the next month then we will be fine.”
It looks as if the first Revida Place two-year-old to hit the track will be a King’s Best colt out of Cheveley Park winner and 1000 Guineas second Wannabe Grand.
Lanigan said: “All being well, I will be aiming to start him off in the second half of June. He will probably go for a 6f maiden on his debut with a view to stepping him up to 7f second time out.
“There is an Aldebaran colt out of Cuanto Es who has just begun to do faster work. With another month on his back he will probably be ready to head for a 7f maiden.
“We’ve also done a bit more with a Redback colt called The Last Don, who again will wait for the 7f maidens. He’ll be one who’d enjoy a bit of juice in the ground.
“Of the fillies, there is a Refuse To Bend out of Star Studded, who is going nicely. She has done everything asked of her so far and will be one of my earlier two-year-old fillies.”
